Melody and Chording Together
Combining melody and chords into one piece of music comes naturally for the harmonica. The design of the instrument is set up to facilitate playing chords on the lower end while making it easy to play scales on the upper end. This technique is also one of the most interesting and dynamic approaches to playing the harmonica, allowing the instrument to function in the roles of stand-alone accompaniment or as a powerful rhythmic and solo voice in a band.
Here's an example of melody and chording in the same song.
