The Maya are a group of tribal peoples who live in an area of Central America stretching from the Chiapas region of Mexico down through Guatemala and modern day Honduras. The indigenous Maya still follow the traditions of their ancestors, and though they have been subjected to severe persecution over the centuries that has not abated fully even today, they have kept their traditions and culture alive.
