Many of the ideas associated with 2012 relate to some kind of acceleration of time. In his book The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness, Carl Calleman explores another creative way of viewing the Mayan calendar that attempts to explain this phenomenon. His model takes the calendar and maps its cycles to the different levels of a typical Mayan pyramid. The result is another attempt to understand and analyze the underlying processes of history and evolution by using the Mayan calendar.
