Periodic mass extinctions may have been caused by a yet undiscovered binary companion to our sun. This may also provide a new explanation for the precession of the equinoxes, the cycle responsible for the galactic alignment of 2012. This theory is supported both by new scientific thinking and by ancient knowledge interpreted from India's Vedic calendar.
