Into the Wild

You're planning on leaving it all behind and forging your own honeymoon trail. If both of you are experienced with the outdoors, you're all set. However, if this is one of your first exploration trips, check and recheck to make sure you've planned for everything. Make sure you have your map (and any permits you may need — for your campsite, for example) before you hit the trail.

Don't stop at the sporting goods store on your way to the national park. Take the time to get acquainted with your equipment before you need to use it (think how frustrating it can be to pitch a tent in the dark), and plan for the worst possible weather. Make sure you have plenty of water and snacks, but don't overload yourself — your back-pack shouldn't weigh more than twenty-five percent of your weight.
