Fantastic Fennel

Although it can be found in almost every grocery store's produce section, people rarely purchase or prepare fennel at home. The vitamins and minerals in this veggie make it a must have, and the taste is amazingly unique.


  • 1 cup romaine lettuce
  • 2 fennel bulbs
  • 1 cucumber, peeled
  • 1 carrot, peeled
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 2 cups purified water
  1. Place romaine, fennel, cucumber, carrot, celery, and 1 cup of purified water in a blender and blend until thoroughly combined.

  2. Add remaining 1 cup of water while blending until desired texture is achieved.

Vitamins to the Rescue

Research shows that many antioxidants interact with and protect each other. Vitamin C, for instance, can react with a damaged vitamin E molecule and convert it back to its antioxidant form, while the antioxidant glutathione can return vitamin C to its original form. Studies also show that vitamin C enhances the protective effects of vitamin E.
