The electrical power grid puts energy at your fingertips. Most electricity is generated from burning coal — a limited resource — and even with recent improvements in technology, it can be a detriment to the environment. For this and other reasons, environmentally friendly and renewable ways of generating power are gaining popularity. This chapter gives some insight into the current practices of producing energy and some of the newest innovations and trends in ways of greening the grid.
