Greeting Cards
It's more of a tradition with winter holidays, but that doesn't stop stationers from promoting more and more special-occasion cards. Forgo the Halloween and St. Patrick's Day cards altogether if you're seeking to be greener, or consider sending e-cards to friends and family.
Holiday cards don't have to be thrown as away as soon the occasion passes. They can be made into a variety of useful items. Fronts can be reused to make new cards, bookmarks, gift tags, and lace-up toys.
If sending cards or holiday letters just isn't a tradition you are willing to give up, consider sending only a letter. Use hand stamps to make it festive. Another alternative is to purchase cards from your favorite charity. Choose an organization that sends a message you support and uses recycled materials.
