Buying Local

Locally produced foods help to minimize the pollution and depletion of resources that go along with transportation and packaging. Organic produce that is transported from another country creates enough pollution to negate its environmental benefit. Local farmers' markets are great places to find fresh produce and other locally produced goods, often at bargain prices. If you have to choose between local and organic, go local. If you can get local products that are also organic, you've hit the jackpot.
