Increasingly, government agencies that require a letter of intent are supplying forms that you may complete and fax or submit electronically. They look something like this:

Submit this form no later than January 1, 2008, to assist Department of Education staff in determining the number of reviewers that will be necessary.

Following is a sample notice of intent from a grant seeker.

The XYZ Nonprofit in City, State, intends to submit a grant proposal in response to program number 123456.9 in the Federal Register. Of the three categories for projects described in the designated RFP, XYZ plans to submit under category “C”: Nonprofit community collaborations to address shortages of affordable housing.
