Components of a Strong Letter of Intent

Letters of intent are short and to the point. They should be no longer than one page, and should contain the following pertinent information:

  • Name of grant program

  • Number of grant program (if available)

  • Name of applicant

  • Contact information for applicant Category of funding requested (when the RFP has separate categories)

  • Think of a letter of intent as a form (and in many cases, it actually will be a form), and include little beyond the required information. Don't request additional information or ask questions about your proposal.
