People tend to take things like roads, bridges, tunnels, and mass transit for granted. They expect the garbage to be picked up and the water to flow from their faucets. But in order for all these mundane aspects of life to be serviceable and available to the general public, there must be a dedicated group of people willing and able to work to keep the infrastructure running.
