Photographers and Videographers
With the advent of affordable digital technology, advanced camera equipment is available to more and more people. Therefore, it isn't surprising that some strange photographs are coming out.
At Ghostvillage.com, photographer Jim DeCaro writes of his initiation into ghost photography, of which he was highly skeptical. At the repeated urging of a psychic friend, he went to a graveyard one night with his digital camera and took several dozen shots of headstones. When DeCaro returned home and reviewed the photos, he was astonished to find orbs and glowing three-dimensional objects in several shots. Looking closely at them, he discovered that five or six had some sort of anomaly in them.
DeCaro emailed the files to his psychic friend, who told him he believed his camera had caught the playful ghosts of children that night. DeCaro immediately retraced his steps to the spot where he had taken the shots and found that, unbeknownst to him, he had been shooting within 20 feet of the graves of no less than six children. Though elated to have his proof, he was still saddened at the realization that the ghosts of children were trapped there in the cemetery.
Although this seems to be an example of orb activity in a cemetery, the orbs are actually lights in the background.

There's No Place Like Home
DeCaro decided to try doing spirit photography in his own yard. By his seventh week, he found discernable human shapes in the pictures. Sometimes there were even smiling faces with an amazing amount of detail. Animal shapes and skeletal figures were occasionally discernible. He also captured streaks of light, three-dimensional orbs, and colored orbs.
At one point, he was alone in the middle of a field at 2:00
A Sort of Mediumship
DeCaro believes photographers can establish a rapport with the spirits that significantly increases the odds of attracting paranormal activity. He also believes that spirit photography is an instrument-aided type of medium-ship, since the photographer is literally using the camera to communicate with spirits, or, more accurately, using the camera to let spirits communicate with him.

When you take pictures, it isn't always apparent when you have captured an anomalous image. More often than not, orbs, mist, and peculiar lights aren't visible to the naked eye. It is only when you review the photos that you realize what you've captured.
Perhaps even more amazing than ghostly still photos are ghosts caught on videotape. The TAPS team caught an apparition by using their thermal imaging camera in a morgue. Although they made an effort to debunk it, they could find no explanation for the image, which they captured about three feet away from them.
