Protection from Psychic Attack
Theologian Henry James (the father of the novelist of the same name) described a horrible event that occurred in 1844 at his home as he was relaxing before his cozy fireplace after dinner one evening: “Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.”
He reported later that he felt waves of malevolence radiating out from a shapeless form squatting in one corner of the room. He was overcome with a fear so primal that he was reduced to a total wreck. After this experience, he was plunged into a state of total depression and despair. Several years after this experience, he read the work of Emmanuel Swedenborg and he diagnosed himself as suffering from a state which Swedenborg called “devastation” or “vastation,” a collapse of vital energies.
Further Investigation
Author Colin Wilson researched this incident and found that James was residing in Windsor, England, at a place with the charming name of Frogmore Cottage. The cottage was near a ley line that ran from the tower of Windsor Castle south through several churches to an ancient Roman building north of Chidingford.
Prolonged depression and anxiety that arises in those who have been around paranormal activity may be a sign that more is going on than is first understood. A state of depression, sometimes bordering on the suicidal, may be triggered by an encounter with demonic or elemental energies. Advise clients to seek medical or psychological help if they are in danger.
Wilson concluded that because of the cottage's proximity to the ley line, whatever paranormal forces were latent there might have been boosted by it. Indeed, that area has been a paranormal hot spot for centuries.
It is possible, according to sensitives, to be on the lookout for psychic attack. They say warning signs may come in the form of a prolonged spell of depression, anxiety, or anger. If the person experiencing the attack suddenly realizes how uncharacteristic her behavior is, steps can be taken to undo the damage.
Dealing with Oppression
Experienced investigators in the field of the paranormal know what to look for and how to counteract the early signs of psychic trouble. Depression, despair, and persistent anxiety are all signs. An effective way of dealing with the situation of psychic oppression and attack is to first ask themselves what could have triggered the feeling they are having or the streak of very bad luck they are experiencing. If there is no logical, natural explanation, what remains must be paranormal in nature.
Most groups have people they can call on for assistance when this situation occurs. It might be a group member or an expert or demonologist the group uses for consultation. Whoever it is, he will be called in to sort out the situation and send the oppressive presence packing. Usually, things are put back in order very quickly.
