New Avenues of Research
There are some exciting new developments in the field. Many are derived from new approaches, theories, and technology. The ghost box and the new theory of orbs are two examples.
Paranormal researcher Beth Fowler contributed an article to the Weekly Universe (
Ghost lights, which can be seen with the naked eye
Dust orbs, which are light reflecting off dust or other particles
True orbs, which have consistency and seem to be in motion
Fowler's theory of orbs states that there are discernible differences between the three that researchers should consider before discounting all orbs. She offers two options — that if true orbs do exist, they are either balls of energy of unknown origin, or they are spirits.
Another new theory of orbs is the one presented by a former NASA scientist, Professor Klaus Heinemann, and Miceal Ledwith, a former professor of theology and former president of St. Patrick's College, Maynooth, in Ireland. These two highly educated men have established to their own satisfaction, at least, that orbs should not be lightly dismissed. Heinemann was able to determine that digital cameras that had recorded orbs were not malfunctioning, and he became convinced that orbs were an actual paranormal phenomenon.
Instrumental Transcommunication
Some researchers in Europe claim they have achieved almost daily two-way communication with spiritual beings. These entities provide all sorts of advanced technical information through radio, television, VCRs, telephones, and computers. This is all part of a new and growing field called instrumental transcommunications (ITC). Research in this area has been ongoing since 1985, and researchers say some of the new approaches yield excellent results.
Throughout history, there have been many ways of communicating with the other side — Ouija board, mediums, automatic writing, etc. The technologies of the last century have given us EVPs, the Spiricom, and messages through televisions, radios, computers, and phones, which may all be lumped together in the category of instrumental transcommunication.
In Luxembourg in the 1980s, Maggy Harsch-Fischbach began experimenting with a tape recorder, trying to establish contact with entities. Within a week, she received her first voice contacts. Her husband, Jules Harsch, soon became involved with the experiments and they formed a group that met weekly. Soon they encountered an entity who claimed to be early EVP researcher Konstantin Raudive. With his help, the group efforts succeeded in establishing a very strong contact field with Raudive.
Soon deceased friends and relatives began contacting them, and Raudive appeared at nearly every session. Both the television and radios started to behave oddly, emitting strange noises and even tuning themselves. Sometimes group members would feel compelled to adjust the equipment with no vocalized coaching from their colleagues on the other side, and even more entities made contact.
A New Development
An entity calling itself “the technician” began communicating. A being who claimed never to have been human, he supervised all communications in cooperation with other higher beings. His knowledge of mathematics, electronics, physics, astronomy, history, and even, allegedly, the future seemed to be quite extensive. According to the technician, he functions as a guardian and guiding spirit and has helped the group become even more advanced in their research. The operation is named Timestream and its efforts are still ongoing.
A large part of the Timestream experiment has shown that the experimenter's attitude, knowledge, and beliefs play a huge role in establishing a contact field with the other side. They are reportedly working to downplay this aspect so that communication can become more widespread and accepted.
The experimenters hope to eventually be able to bypass their own beliefs and thoughts to stabilize the receptivity to allow a wider segment of the population to receive the transmissions. It is believed they are getting close to their goal, which is to let everyone know that life continues after death.
