Staying Sane

From playgrounds at the park to baby showers for your friends, there are probably babies everywhere you turn. When you are trying to have a baby of your own, it seems like everyone else is the world is either pregnant or already has a child. This can seem like a cruel twist of fate.

Your emotions may go back and forth wildly — both from hormones and just simply from the stress of what you're dealing with. You may find yourself feeling down or depressed. You may be angry at life or yourself or your doctor or your partner. You may be feeling guilty. These are all normal feelings. With the many mood swings that are possible, you may feel like you are going crazy.

Keeping your sanity while in fertility treatments can be difficult at times. You are asked to balance work, testing, fertility treatments, appointments, and all for what? All for the chance to have a baby? It can simply seem overwhelming and unreal at times.

Finding a way to deal with these emotions is imperative. You need an outlet to help you vent and find something good to focus on in your life. You need something outside of the world of fertility. This may mean getting involved in a new hobby or finding a sport you enjoy. While it won't solve your problems, it can help you find the physical or mental release you need and a bit of escape as well.
