The process of egg donation is complicated but doable. Once it has been decided that egg donation is the treatment that you require, you will decide what type of donor you desire — someone anonymous, or someone you know. Known donors could include your sister, a friend, or just someone that you find to help you in your treatments.

Your donor will be evaluated emotionally and physically for her ability to be a donor. If she is an acceptable candidate, then you will proceed to the medication phases. She will be prepared for an in vitro fertilization procedure. This will follow a protocol very similar to the one that would be used if she were doing an IVF herself, putting her eggs back into her body. The difference in an egg donation cycle is that your cycle will be synchronized with the donor's so that her eggs can be transferred to your body.
