Making a "Baby's First Year" Scrapbook
One of the best (and most fun) ways to keep memories from baby's first year is to make a fun-filled, spirited scrapbook. This option offers you lots of three-dimensional creative opportunities, such as including stamp art, ribbons, and glitter, or highlighting special memories with glued-on mementos like baby's hospital bracelet.
You can be as bold or conservative as you want, and you can even host a scrapbook night for other new moms in your circle of family and friends. The most important thing is to have fun!
Here's what you will need to make a homemade scrapbook full of baby's “firsts”:
Scissors, tape, and glue
A computer and printer (there are great software programs available for keeping family records and milestones)
Wrapping paper, tissue, and stickers
Mounting spray
Photo holders
Labels (for photo captions)
Plastic page covers
A notebook (for scribbling ideas)
A storage box (a shoe box will do to start)
An X-Acto knife (for trimming edges of photos neatly)
A binder with extra filler pages (large photo albums work best)
Colored pens (to add narrative throughout the scrapbook)
Alert
Don't forget to leave some room in your scrapbook for notes, personal commentary, and other stray (yet important) memories. You'll want to create a memory book that's sure to make baby smile later in life when sharing these special moments with family and friends.
