Places to Go, People to See

Generally speaking, the best vacations with infants are those with open schedules, decent weather (not too hot or too cold), and lots of things to see. But you (and baby) may also enjoy visiting relatives from afar. After all, what child doesn't enjoy being spoiled and cooed over incessantly?

Some of the best places to travel with a baby are those where you would go as an adult; however, these experiences may be a little more exciting for baby:

  • A zoo or petting farm

  • An outdoor music and arts festival

  • A day at the beach, playing in the warm sand

  • A park with a sandbox or swings for babies

Obviously, vacations that are primarily or specifically of interest to adults might not work as well for baby: a European tour, a romantic bed and breakfast, Las Vegas, or a Caribbean cruise.

It's All About Togetherness

Your baby will most enjoy the experience of being with you, wherever you decide to go. It takes very little to amuse and surprise a little one, because everything is new. You can have a great time traveling with a baby for that very reason; and things you took for granted will become more appreciated as you share them with baby.

Traveling can be a wonderful bonding experience with your baby. You get to explain every new site or attraction to a captive (yet appreciative) audience. Your baby's smiles will make any minor inconveniences seem worth it. Suddenly, you won't mind the wait at airports. Room service delays won't make you pace impatiently. And baby will have the best time of all, no matter what you choose to do, because she will get to see plenty of new faces.
