Adults often say that they “slept like a baby.” But do babies really sleep that wonderfully? Any parent of an infant can tell you it's not so! Rare indeed is the baby who, at least in her early months, gets through the night without crying. She may cry because she wants food, because she's experiencing some discomfort, or simply because she's awake and would rather not be, but she doesn't know how to get herself back to sleep.
