Anxieties

The problem may even be an internal problem with an external cause: Your baby may be feeling anxious because he is picking up on your own anxieties. Though it is more often the parents of firstborns who are nervous and anxious, parents of children in any birth order can be especially anxious. This is particularly true if some outside situation is causing unusual anxiety in the parent. For example, if Mom is upset over a recent divorce, Dad has recently lost his job, Mom has quit her job to take care of the baby and is anxious about that situation, or if the grandparents have come for a long-term visit to help with the baby and Mom (or Dad) is anxious, Baby is going to sense it.
