Support Groups
Most parenting support groups are under the auspices of hospitals with obstetrics departments. Contact the hospital in which you had your baby or any other local hospital with a maternity department to ask if they offer a parenting support group or can direct you to one. Though the group will likely not be concerned solely with sleep issues, these do make up a large part of what is discussed in the typical parenting group, especially one geared to parents of babies in particular. Here are three such groups.
The Center for Childbirth: Ridgewood, NJ
New Parents Group, John Muir Medical Center: Walnut Creek, CA
Postpartum Education for Parents (PEP): Santa Barbara, CA
PEP was founded in 1977 by a group of mothers to offer each other support after the births of their children. PEP is a nonprofit, all-volunteer corporation staffed entirely by trained parent volunteers.
