There are a number of ways you can increase your French food vocabulary. Try calling familiar foods by their French names. Write the French word on a label, and stick it to the package. When you're cooking, make a conscious effort to think about the names of the items in French. Working with them actively helps to entrench the words in your memory.
If you have friends who are learning the language, you can have great fun by having a French party. Have each friend bring a French dish and set up little signs with the French name on it next to each container. Have the guests quiz each other on the names of the food items.
