Quick and Easy Tartar Sauce
Feel free to increase the flavor by adding more capers. Serve with seafood fondues such as Cod in Herbed Batter.
INGREDIENTS | YIELDS ½ cup
- 2 teaspoons capers (about 16), finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons pickle, chopped
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons onion, finely chopped
Rinse the capers.
Combine all the ingredients except for the lemon juice and blend well.
Stir in the lemon juice.
For best results, refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to blend.
Despite their frequent pairing with anchovies, capers are not a type of seafood. Instead, the green, bullet-shaped buds come from the caper bush. The distinctive bitter and salty taste of capers comes from pickling them in vinegar and salt.
