Guacamole
Serve guacamole with corn chips or tortilla chips. For extra fire, substitute hot salsa for the mild salsa. For a smoother, milder taste, add mayonnaise.
INGREDIENTS | YIELDS 1½ cups
- 2 avocados
- ½ teaspoon chili powder, or to taste
- ½ tomato
- 1½ green onions
- ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
- 4 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon mild salsa
Peel the avocados and slice lengthwise. Remove the pit and mash the flesh (a mortar and pestle is ideal for this).
Chop the tomato into small pieces. Finely dice the green onions.
Mix the tomato and green onion with the mashed avocado.
Stir in the lemon juice, chili powder, cumin, and salsa.
For best results, refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend, then serve.
