Terrific Teriyaki
Used to refer to the Japanese method of grilling meat, the word teriyaki comes from the Japanese words teri, meaning “luster,” and yaki, meaning “roast.” The secret behind teriyaki lies in the marinade, which consists of sugar, ginger, and Japanese rice wine or mirin. Combined, these three ingredients impart a luster to the roasted meat and provide a tangy sweet-and-sour flavor.
