Bittersweet Chocolate Orange Fondue

Serves 6

1 pound bittersweet chocolate

⅔ cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons orange zest

¼ cup Grand Marnier liqueur

1 cup slivered almonds

Stemmed strawberries

Shortbread cookies

Orange zest adds a heavenly citrus scent to this dark chocolate fondue.

  • Combine chocolate and cream in a saucepan over low heat. Warm, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.

  • Stir in orange zest and Grand Marnier.

  • Pour chocolate mixture into 1 or more fondue pots and place over heating source on lowest setting. Sprinkle almonds over the top for garnish. Serve with strawberries and shortbread cookies.

Getting Zesty

Citrus zest is the colored, outer part of the fruit peel. The white pith, just beneath the zest, is bitter and should not be added to dessert recipes.
