Keeping Your Own Emergency Kit

While your workplace has a comprehensive first-aid kit, it is not going to be personalized for your individual needs. That's why it's a good idea to have your own small kit, containing items that you typically use, including any over-the-counter medications that you use regularly and a small store of your regular medications. As well as a basic first-aid kit, it's a good plan to keep a pair of comfortable walking shoes at your workplace in case of any evacuation, or even a planned drill — you may find yourself having to walk a long distance in shoes that are not designed for walking. Keep some bottled water and snacks at your workstation, along with a flashlight and extra batteries. Always bring some cash and coins, and even keep extra clothing at work (warm clothes in the winter) in case of accidents.
