Stunts

Even if your film has no car crashes or shoot-outs, it's vital to carefully plan and rehearse anything that involves jumping, falling, throwing, or even running. For example, in the 2005 indie film Fixed, a scorned lover throws a vase at her boyfriend as he walks off camera. After several takes, everyone was getting tired and a bit too relaxed. The safety guy missed catching the vase and it hit the actor in the head. Several scenes had to be re-shot to explain why the boyfriend had a bandaged ear.

When dealing with stunts, always consult a professional, and never lose sight of the fact that stunt work is extremely dangerous. The last thing you want as a filmmaker is for your actors to get injured. You need to hire a stunt team to take the big risks.
