Evaluating your sperm is important because approximately 40 percent of couples seeking help for infertility are diagnosed with male factor infertility. If you have had a semen analysis (SA) that came back slightly abnormal, your doctor may recommend repeating the test. A severely low sperm count may require you to be evaluated by a urologist, a specialist in the urinary systems of both men and women, and in the reproductive health of men.
