Hiccups and Gas
Hiccups and gas are other normal things that parents worry about and often overtreat. Neither usually requires any treatment or change in diet at all. Hiccups are hardly ever a sign of a problem, although gas can be if it is associated with other symptoms, such as diarrhea or excessive crying.
The big problem occurs when you have a baby who cries a lot while having hiccups or gas. Is your baby just swallowing a lot of air when he is crying, which causes hiccups and gas? Or is he crying because of the hiccups and gas?
In situations like this, seeing your pediatrician is usually best to try to sort things out. You should avoid giving your baby a lot of gas drops or making dietary changes on your own, because they are often unnecessary.
