Normal Development
There are big changes in store for your baby at this age, all of which will help him to become a little more independent. Instead of just lying in one position, he will now be able to roll over and sit up to observe and interact with the world around him. The milestones that your child is likely to achieve between four and seven months include:
Passing a block from one hand to the other
Reaching for things
Looking for objects that you drop
Imitating many speech sounds
Turning toward a voice
Talking in single syllables
Rolling over
Sitting without support
He also should be able to hold his head steady if you pull him up by his arms to a sitting position. And he may be able to stand by holding on to things, put syllables together, and say “dada” and “mama,” although those words won't be used as a label for you or his mother.
