Baby Walkers

Baby walkers are one product for infants that have always had a bad reputation. If you are considering buying or using a mobile baby walker, keep in mind that the AAP has actually called for a ban on their sale because they are associated with so many injuries, and they won't help your baby learn to walk any faster. Why are baby walkers so unsafe?

Well, they aren't. The problem with baby walkers, in particular mobile baby walkers, is that they make your baby mobile. And often they make your baby too mobile, allowing her to get into things that aren't safe. Still, if your house is properly childproofed and your child is well supervised and kept away from stairs or other dangers, a mobile baby walker can be safe and fun for your baby to use.

An alternative to a mobile baby walker can be a stationary walker or activity center. These include lots of bells and whistles to keep your older infant entertained.
