If you've already gone over and above what you wanted to spend on this wedding but you still want to treat the newlyweds with a little something or other, consider a gift that's more of a gesture than a timeless treasure.

When the newly married couple retires to their hotel room (or to their own home) for the evening, surprise them with a basket of goodies. Chocolates and champagne, along with crystal champagne flutes, will be a welcome sight for their tired eyes. If the reception is an afternoon cocktail affair, consider springing for room service so that the newlyweds can indulge in their wedding night dinner with reckless abandon. (In other words, they can order the lobster and still go on their honeymoon.)

If they're taking off for their honeymoon from the reception, consider arranging for a wine basket to meet them at their final destination, or arrange for an array of goodies to meet them at their own door when they arrive home. Weary travelers melt at the sight of tasty snacks and good wine.
