Shopping in the nation's capital is surprisingly diverse and exciting. Of course, there's a wealth of souvenirs available from street vendors, museum shops, and tourist attractions, but D.C. itself has a number of terrific outdoor flea markets, which offer everything from handmade jewelry to ceramics, and fabulous consignment shops, where you can buy slightly worn designer clothing. Georgetown features a wealth of trendy shops, and D.C. and the surrounding areas have a number of malls, shopping centers, and three great outlet centers. Also, Dupont Circle features an incredible collection of first-rate art galleries, offering works by local artists and internationally famous ones, as well as bookstores with a great selection of new and used books.
