The Pope John Paul II Cultural Center

www.jp2cc.org

The cultural center is a relatively new museum, opened in 2001 in a postmodernist building. The center is devoted to faith and culture and offers a variety of exhibits, programs, performances, family festivals, and lectures throughout the year. One room features Pope John Paul II's personal memorabilia, another is devoted to the heritage of his homeland, Poland. The Center of Imagination offers appropriate interactive activities for kids up to eight years old, such as bell ringing. There is a chapel, a museum store, and an inexpensive café where you can also bring your own food.

Location and Hours

The Pope John Paul II Cultural Center is located on Harewood Road, NE. If you don't mind a walk of about a mile, you can get there from the Brookland/CUA Metro station on the Red Line. Admission is free, but a donation is suggested of $5 for individuals, $4 for seniors and students, and $15 for families.
