Playground Safety

If you are traveling with children, especially young children, safety issues are a big concern. Young children need nearly constant supervision. While you may have taken every precaution at home to safeguard your children, you have no influence over the conditions at the RV park.

Questions to Ask

If you are making reservations at an unfamiliar park, feel free to ask questions about their safety standards.

  • What are the posted speed limits within the park and are they enforced?

  • Is there a swimming pool? If there is a pool, is it enclosed with a high fence and locked gate? Is the pool supervised by a trained lifeguard?

  • Is there a playground? Does it meet safety standards? Is it enclosed with a fence?

  • What about wild animals? Are there precautions in place to keep wild animals away from campers?

  • How close is the nearest medical facility? (This could be important if you have a child with a medical condition such as asthma.)
