Educational Opportunities

There are numerous educational opportunities available for RV travelers who want to combine travel and learning. Older travelers especially seek out and participate in the various learning opportunities available around the country

You can even learn more about RVs and their operation. RV Life on Wheels ( www.rvlifeonwheels.com) runs weeklong conferences to teach both new and longtime RV owners how to operate their RVs in a safe and efficient manner.

National Parks

The National Park System is worth mentioning again for the numerous educational opportunities they provide. Docents lead nature and history programs for all ages.

Senior Summer School

This program offers various educational programs on college campuses across the country and in Canada. They are on the Internet at www.seniorsummerschool.com.

Bring along a small telescope if you can, along with a star chart. Far away from bright city lights, the night skies are much more visible. Collect unusual rocks, take pictures of wildlife and vegetation you don't see at home, and learn about a different part of the country. You can purchase bird identification books at most bookstores (the Audubon Society books are among the best) and take up bird watching as a new hobby.
