Children's Programs
The National Park Service is responsible for running and maintaining all national parks. Part of their mandate is to provide programs for all ages that help to preserve these precious natural resources for generations to come.
The park service has a program called Junior Rangers for kids ages five through twelve. Each park with a Junior Ranger program has an educational program that is set up specifically for that park, whether it is a national historic monument or a national park.
These are excellent programs that teach kids about the history of the park and the region, the flora and fauna of the area, and the geography. All this knowledge will help children appreciate and want to protect the great outdoors.
Besides educational programs, many parks have organized activities for children. Look for crafts lessons, swimming lessons, and movie screenings aimed at kids. Most park operators find that offering these programs is a great way to entice families to spend time at their parks.
QUESTION?
Whom do I notify if a campground is unsafe?
Contact the campground owner initially for safety issues. If you do not get satisfaction from the owner, you can notify the associations they are associated with. If they are a Good Sam Park, then let Good Sam know your concerns. They may inspect the park and reduce their rating if safety problems are not corrected.
