Campground Directories
There are several campground directories you can purchase with listings of campgrounds organized by state or region (or by province or region in Canadian directories). You should plan on carrying at least one (or more) of these directories in your rig at all times.
These directories should be an integral part of your resources for trip planning. Used along with a good, up-to-date map, they will make your trip planning easier. You can find these directories at most bookstores, usually in the travel section. You can also find them at large RV and camping stores (such as Camping World) and at many of the large truck stops found along most major interstate highways.
The best-known and most popular directories are the Trailer Life Campground Directory and the Woodall's Campground Directories. These directories, which could be mistaken for the yellow pages of a large metropolitan city, contain listings for private campgrounds indexed by state or province. Both update their directories every year with any changes in rates, dates of operation, and amenities. The Trailer Life Directory is also available on a CD-ROM for your computer. If you are concerned about weight, this might be a better option, especially if you are traveling with a laptop computer. The Trailer Life Directory in book form weighs five pounds, as compared to the CD, which will only add a few ounces at most.

You may want to consider carrying more than one directory. You may find campgrounds listed in one and not another, especially those that only list chain-affiliated campgrounds such as KOA or Yogi Bear.
