Overcoming Boredom

Even the best travel planning cannot control the weather. If your travels have taken you to the beach for sun and sand, a week of wind and rain may lead to frayed nerves and arguments if you have children cooped up in an RV. Always have alternative activities planned. If weather could be a factor in derailing your travel plans, be sure to have backup plans.

If an outdoor attraction is on the agenda, have an alternative activity in an indoor or weather-sheltered venue. If rain sidelines a day at the beach, find a museum or indoor amusement park to visit instead.

Make sure you have a variety of books, movies, and games along to pass the time when the weather is bad. Board games are a great activity for RV travels, allowing family members to interact in a fun way without the stress of work and school.

ESSENTIAL

A standard deck of cards is inexpensive and easily replaced. Card games are ideal for RV vacations as they don't add much weight and are compact. Get a good card playing book (Hoyle's Rules of Games, for example) for hours of fun.
