Indian Valley Crab Feed and Auction
Sponsored by the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce in Plumas County, this event includes an auction of many things — but not live crabs, as the name implies!
Lake Davis Sled Dog and Snowshoe Races
Typically held in February — weather permitting — this familyfriendly weekend in the Sierra Nevada includes events and howto demonstrations such as “how to ski and bike with your dog.” Family pets are not welcome at the sanctioned sled dog races, but they are welcome at the official sponsor hotel, Chalet View Lodge. You and your dog can snowshoe race in a fun half-mile event or a more serious 5K.
Olive Festival Passport Weekend
This annual event is the big finale to the three-month Olive Festival held in Sonoma Valley Wine Country from December through February. Multiple venues throughout Sonoma County host olive, food, and wine tastings, live entertainment, and more.
Paws for Love
Held each year in the town of Healdsburg, this event benefits the animals of Sonoma County. It includes auctions of art painted by shelter animals, live and silent auctions of award-winning wines, live music, and gourmet food tasting.
Plumas County Snowmobile Poker Runs
There are four snowmobile poker runs held each February in Plumas County: the La Porte Harold Schmidt Memorial Poker Run (sometimes held in January due to snowfall), the Chester Winterfest Poker Run, the Lake Davis Winter Holiday Poker Run, and the Bucks Lake Snowdrifters Poker Run. Each of the areas has snowmobiles available for rent.
San Francisco Ocean Film Festival
Held for the first time in 2003, this annual event highlights films that focus on ocean sports, environmental issues, the marine sciences, ocean exploration, and coastal and island cultural history. It typically takes place at a theater on the San Francisco waterfront.
