FAST FACT

There is a great hotel in Brooklyn Heights, so if you're staying there to see family, or you want to spend a day at the Brooklyn Museum, Botanic Garden, and Junior's, try the New York Marriott in Brooklyn (call 1-888-436-3759 for more information). It has an Olympic-length lap pool and a kosher menu available. Rooms have eleven-foot ceilings (unheard of in Manhattan), and the lobby features seats from the old Ebbets Field.

This is your standard place to stay, not elegant, not fancy, but comfortable and a good choice for the family who doesn't mind seeing a New York neighborhood up close and hopping the subway for a quick ride to the attractions. The Key West Diner is next to the hotel, and across the street is a twenty-four-hour deli.
