Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex offers thirty acres of fun along Manhattan's Hudson River. In addition to the traditional spa amenities of a sports center, Chelsea Piers also boasts the largest indoor rock-climbing wall in the Northeast, one of the few indoor Olympic pools in the city, the only indoor sand volleyball court in New York City, a quarter-mile running track, and a forty-lane bowling alley as well as the city's only all-year, indoor ice-skating rink. There is a wonderful indoor play area called the Toddler Adventure Center that is designed for children from six months to four years old. Going to Chelsea Piers is a nice way to spend an afternoon, especially if the weather turns bad and you've got to blow off some steam.

RAINY DAY FUN

Take your family to the Sky Rink, the only year-round indoor ice skating arena in New York. General skating is offered every afternoon and is priced around $13 for adults and $9.50 for children and seniors. Occasional specials are less.

The Golf Club at Chelsea Piers is a popular favorite. The 2,000-square-foot facility features hitting stalls, an indoor putting green, and a practice sand bunker. There is also virtual golfing with full-swing simulators for about $45 an hour. Players can choose from fifty-one different championship courses worldwide.

The Chelsea Brewing Company has a restaurant and microbrewery on the premises that offers a large menu of favorites: Italian food, boutique food, sandwiches, wraps, pizza, burgers, and a kid's menu, as well as a natural beer made in-house. It's an attractive place that overlooks the marina. There is also Famous Famiglia, two cafés, and Jason's Riverside Grill.
