Nothing says New York like skyscrapers, so where else should the only museum dedicated to the subject be located? Sharing a building with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, the Skyscraper Museum is located in the historic tip of Manhattan, where it all began. It is located within walking distance of the World Trade Center site and is the repository of information on the World Trade Center, from its original design model to what the future site will look like.

Through exhibits, various programs, and publications, the museum explores every aspect of the skyscraper. It runs family programs on various Saturdays, with workshops appropriate for kids four to nine. Check its Web site under “Education” for a schedule, and check out the “Cool Stuff for Kids” section for “cool swag, merch, and high fashion” that will interest them. The museum itself will interest every member of the family with its always fascinating exhibits, displays, and models.

Hours and Fees

The museum is open from noon to 6 P.M., Wednesday to Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for seniors and students.
