Where to Go After Dark by Bob Brooke
If you like mariachi music, Puebla has several squares where roving troubadours play for you beginning around 6 P.M. La Plazuela de los Sapos is the closest to the zócalo — just two blocks. Sit at a table at one of the small cafés and enjoy. Or walk to Plaza de Santa Inés, near the La Escuela de la Talavera Poblana and four blocks from the zócalo, or take a taxi to Plaza del Alto, a dozen blocks from it. If your taste is more to rock or blues, then head to Corcores or Café La Obra.
