Getting Around Acapulco
Upon arrival, you'll take an airport van for the twenty to thirty-minute ride to your hotel. Though the trip into town costs only $7.50, the return by private, reservations-only airport taxi from Transportes Aeropuerto (744-462-1095) costs $15. A shuttle is also available for $10 round-trip. You'll find taxis everywhere, but they don't have meters, so make sure you establish the rate before getting in. Hotels have authorized taxi rates posted in their lobbies. Hotel taxis are more expensive than if you hail one on the street, and they have set rates. Public buses ride up and down the Costera between the main square in town and the naval base. Hop on one that says “Zocalo” or “Centro” to go into town or one that says “Base” to go in the other direction. The fare is only three pesos (thirty cents) per person.
