Island-Hopping Made Easy
Traveling is relatively easy between islands within the U.S. Virgin Islands and the nearby British Virgin Islands, as well as to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico. You can take a high-speed ferry or fly between islands. Cape Air Airlines (www.flycapeair.com) offers twelve daily flights between St. Thomas and San Juan (a thirty-three-minute flight) and between San Juan and St. Thomas.
Seven flights per day are also offered between St. Thomas and St. Croix and back (a twenty-five-minute flight each way). Cape Air also offers nine daily flights between St. Croix and San Juan and back.
For a more memorable island-hopping experience, Seaborne Airlines (www.seaborneairlines.com) offers eighteen-minute seaplane rides/tours between St. Thomas and St. Croix. Up to thirty trips each way are flown daily for a round-trip airfare of $85 per person. The airline also offers multiple flights per day between St. Thomas and Old San Juan, Puerto Rico and between St. Croix and Old San Juan.
High-Speed Ferry Services
High-speed ferry service is a great option for getting around the islands. The following list provides contact information for highspeed ferry or boat services that offer inter-island transportation.
Dohm's Water Taxi: www.watertaxi-vi.com. Transportation between the U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. Custom chartered day trips can also be arranged. Regularly scheduled ferry service is offered between various places in St. Thomas and St. John, for between $3 and $7 per person (one way).
