Unofficial Resort Reputation

Whether you are shopping for a new timeshare unit or for one on the resale market, you can take advantage of the ratings and rankings posted by consumer groups to evaluate which resorts have the best reputations — and, thus, can be rightly charging the highest costs for their timeshare units. In some cases, you can even find information about what other people have paid for similar units in the past.

Two good places to look for these ratings and reviews are the Web site of TimeSharing Today magazine, www.tstoday.com, and the Web site of the Timeshare User's Group, www.tug2.net. If you join these groups, you will have access to literally hundreds of comments and postings from other timeshare owners and users who have stayed at timeshare resorts worldwide. More information about each of these groups is listed in Chapter 19, along with additional places where you can research timeshare resort reputations and unit prices.
