Muesli

Muesli means “mixture,” and it began as a health food developed by Swiss physicians in the 1800s. Today it is a breakfast staple around the world. Mixtures vary, as does soaking time. The longer the soak, the softer the oats become.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cups fat-free milk
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds
  • ¼ cup nonfat yogurt
  • 1 apple, grated
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  1. Combine oats, raisins, honey, and milk in a bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes, or overnight for softer oats.

  2. Before serving, stir in almonds, yogurt, apple, and sesame seeds.
